The Interactive Megalithic Museum of Mora was born from an old idea of Mora municipality to promote its vast megalithic heritage.
The museum integrated and rehabilitated the old Mora train station, while new spaces where created for the museum and cafeteria area. Interactive play areas and an internet room were created in the reconverted old train station building.
EDIGMA partnered with renown design firm P0-6 Atelier to create an innovative and interactive exhibition. Particular attention was placed on interactive artefacts for younger audiences in an effort to foster their interest for the material and spiritual heritage that makes the region truly unique.

Interactive Wall Projection
Using the Microsoft Kinect sensor, we were able to associate different content that would appear if the visitor is standing in a specific area marked on the floor. The illustration on the floor represents the map of the region and the contents are associated with the location of the most relevant archaeological findings.
Transparent LCD Showcases
EDIGMA created four transparent and interactive digital museum displays that encourages visitors to touch the glass in order to discover additional information about the presented objects.
The application encourages visitors to clean the dirt and uncover hidden artefacts much like an archaeologist would do in the field.
3D Stereoscopic Film
Together with the museum archaeology team EDIGMA created a 3D Stereoscopic Film that recreates life in a megalithic village through the eyes of a child. The film was so well received that the main character, a 6-year-old boy, was adopted has the museums’ mascot.

Interactive Floor Projection
In this module visitors can discover information about the museum and Alentejo through a series of contents that are triggered by their movement.
Megalithic Bowling
EDIGMA developed a bowling game inspired by the theme of the museum and the popular cartoon show The Flinstones. Bowling balls were replaced by rocks and bowling pines by menhir standing stones. We used a Kinect as the controller and interface for this motion activated game.
Crayon Multi-touch Tables
For the multitouch kid tables EDIGMA developed a custom quiz application that encourages children to learn more about the megalithic period through a series of questions and challenges.
