The House of the Prince (Casa do Infante), also known as the Alfândega Velha (Royal Customs House) is a historical house in the city of Oporto, in Portugal. The house was originally built in the 14th century as customs and mint, although its present condition derives mostly from a remodeling carried out in the 17th century.
Its name derives from the tradition that it was in this house that Prince Henry the Navigator was born in 1394. The House of the Prince is located in the historical center of Oporto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Interactive Showcase
EDIGMA was challenged to create a series of digital artifacts for a new permanent exhibition dedicated to the life of Prince Henry and its relation with the Portuguese discoveries and the city of Oporto.
EDIGMA created a transparent and interactive digital museum display that encourages visitors to touch the glass in order to discover additional information about the presented objects.
The transparent touchscreen was built using DISPLAX SKIN technology.
Augmented Book
By taking the traditional book and enhancing its possibilities using digital technology, this artifact combines the best of both worlds. When visitors interact with the large format book they find additional information embedded on the pages. When activated, this information is projected on the wall resulting in an augmented and richer experience.
Broad experience that combines the best of both worlds.

Digital Globe
This digital directory combines a multi-touch LCD screen with a semi-spherical display. Users can access and display information relating to the animals and plants documented by Portuguese navigators in India and Brazil. The presented illustrations were collected from Oporto’s Municipal Archives.
