The Carmen Miranda Museum is a unique space that combines tradition, history, and innovation to honor the life and work of one of the world’s greatest stars.
Designed by Edigma, from concept to implementation, the permanent exhibition guides visitors through a continuous narrative highlighting the most remarkable moments of the artist’s journey, divided into four major themes: Rise, Affirmation, Recognition, and Sharing.
In the main hall, we are introduced to Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, from her childhood to her transformation into the world-famous Carmen Miranda. The second room explores the phenomenon of globalization that marked her artistic performances, celebrating the global impact of her career.
Another space is dedicated to moments from the artist’s life, where visitors can watch excerpts from films that brought the Portuguese language to international stages. Meanwhile, the Ethnography and Traditions room highlights the crafts and traditions characteristic of Marco de Canaveses, reinforcing the museum’s connection to local culture.
The museum also features a multipurpose space for temporary exhibitions and cultural events, as well as the innovative Future Room, which uses multimedia technologies to provide interactive educational experiences. Complementing the space are a reception area, a café, the Interactive Tourism Store, and the Dolmen Shop, where visitors can purchase regional products and artist-themed merchandise.
