A Symbol of the Revolution and Freedom
Inaugurated on Fernando Salgueiro Maia’s 77th birthday and located in the land where the April Captain was born, in Castelo de Vide, the “Casa da Cidadania Salgueiro Maia” intends to promote the visibility of one of the characters that most marked the April 25th Revolution of 1974.
This project fulfills the will that the national hero left expressed in his testament and features pieces such as the iconic megaphone used to intimidate the top figure of the New State in Largo do Carmo in Lisbon, as well as the military uniform worn on that day, badges, banners and insignia, diplomas and commendations, military documents and school records that belonged to Salgueiro Maia.
