Space where Disruptive Technology meets Sophisticated Design.

Watch Video

The evolution of water supply to Lisbon, since the presence of Romans to nowadays, is presented in a space where disruptive technology meets sophisticated design.

Since the time when Romans ran the city, that Lisbon has a rich story regarding its water supply. From the most rudimentary aqueducts, to the sophisticated systems of today, Lisbon has always been in the forefront in terms of making sure its water resources serve its citizens interests in the most effective and problem-free way possible.

In a space dominated by white and blue decorations, several interactive solutions are discreetly integrated, with the emphasis being put in design and contents, and never in the technology itself.

Interactivity

In the access tunnel to the main exhibition area, visitors are surprised by an interactive floor.

Without expecting it, they see themselves interacting with a magical water floor that reacts to their movements.

An absolute delight to the child we all have inside of us!

Multitouch Floor

Having arrived to the main room, visitors will be absolutely stunned by how gorgeous and high tech this museum is, nothing like any other museum where they have been previously.

Three multitouch tables, with screens presenting a peculiar oval shape, are integrated in curvilinear counters made of glass. A great example of symbiosis between design and technology, style and function.

While one table presents an interactive map that explains, in a graphical way, the distribution of water resources and its derivatives throughout the world, other table focuses in the environmental awareness and scientific dimension of water. Finally, the “crown jewel”: an 84’’ interactive table with a dynamic map showing the evolution of water supply to the city of Lisbon.

Projection

With the exhibition ending in an old steam pumping station, the intervention here had to be the less intrusive possible.

Thus, the choice was to project a motion graphics film explaining the water cycle in general, and the water supply to Lisbon in particular.

The fact that the projected image is not rectangular, with its shape always changing, is another detail that makes this exhibition so special.
