Jésus Baptista vence o EDIGMA Semibreve Award 2025 com a instalação 8.33, Perception of the Invisible

The EDIGMA Semibreve Award 2025 has been awarded to the Franco-Portuguese artist Jésus Baptista for his work 8.33, Perception of the Invisible. This installation transforms cosmic particles into a sensory experience, revealing the unseen forces that shape our perception of reality.
Inspired by personal encounters with natural phenomena and altered states, Baptista presents an installation that unfolds as a spatial mesh where the invisible becomes tangible. The so-called “God particles” emerge as a metaphor for humanity, constantly seeking interaction, yet with no certainty of leaving an indelible mark. The work invites audiences to confront what usually remains hidden, opening space for new ways of sensing and understanding reality.
Jésus Baptista is a Franco-Portuguese visual artist and filmmaker, a graduate of the Haute École des Arts du Rhin and Le Fresnoy (2022–2024). His practice merges video, sound, and light, treated as sculptural materials, and spans both cinema and installation. His works have been presented internationally at events such as Nuit Blanche Paris, Constellations Festival in Metz, House of Electronic Arts Basel, Société des Arts Technologiques in Montreal, Athens Digital Arts Festival, and Fête des Lumières in Lyon. Since 2025, he has been an artist-in-residence at Villa des Arts in Paris.
In just fifteen editions, the Semibreve Festival has established itself as one of the most important international events for exploratory music and digital arts, hosting unique collaborations with leading electronic musicians and premiering innovative works in the field of digital art.
Within this context, the EDIGMA Semibreve Award was created to celebrate and promote installations that explore the interactivity of sound and image through the use of digital technologies. In addition to a monetary prize, the award ensures the presentation of the winning work during the festival, held in Braga.
Sponsored by EDIGMA the award reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting innovation and creativity, giving a platform to artists who expand the boundaries between art, technology, and immersive experience.
