Window to the Ocean

Video

The Aquario Vasco da Gama – AVG – is a center for the divulgation of aquatic life and research. It provides an exhibition of living specimens that is characterized by diversity, with animal and plant species from fresh, salt and brackish water ecosystems, assuming an important role as a Living Museum of Natural History.

EDIGMA was challenged by AVG to be responsible for the design and implementation of technological solutions integrated in the modernization project of the aquarium-museum. This is a clear bet on improving the visitor experience, able to navigate several generations, from the smallest to the biggest, in the underwater world.

The new immersive space now presents a huge digital window to the ocean where visitors get closer to marine life. Through immersiveness and interactivity it becomes a playful, educational and ecosystem preservation space.

Digital Signage at the Front Desk

Located at the entrance, a videowall allows the first dive into the digital ocean, content such as videos about the aquariums presented in the museum help to prepare the visit and enrich literacy about the oceans.

Window to the Ocean

A 20 square meter interactive videowall consisting of 24 ultra-definition screens, offers 3D content of marine life and various scenarios of the Coastal Zone.

This immersive aquarium was designed and developed by EDIGMA to allow a more dynamic and interactive knowledge about the various marine species of the Portuguese Coast, learn about their habitat and their biological and physiognomic characteristics.

Creation Tables and Digital Aquarium

The interactive tables are designed for the younger public, where children can color their favorite fish and then watch them come to life in the digital aquarium, making them available for all visitors to see.

Interactive Sea

The experience was installed with the intention of captivating the attention of the little ones. This artificial intelligence floor is eight square meters and replicates the sensation of jumping through the water without getting wet or playing with the turtles that separate when stepped on.

This is another project where EDIGMA creates experiences that combine the physical space with the digital space and that ultimately translate into human experiences.

Miguel Oliveira, CEO of EDIGMA, states that “the new space pays tribute to the bottom of the ocean, bringing several species of fish closer to visitors, building a relationship with the aquatic environment and enhancing their knowledge in a playful way.”.
