Past meets future as Innovative Technologies help to preserve Agricultural Methods and Traditions that are older than Time.
The Museum of Rural Memory, located at Vilarinho da Castanheira, near Carrazeda de Ansiães, was designed to promote the intangible heritage of Douro and Trás-os-Montes regions.
Focusing on the traditions and knowledge related to cereal crops and wine production, this museum intends to preserve the ancestral agricultural techniques and professions of this region, in a challenge to guarantee that the people of today don’t forget a past of which they should be very proud.

Interactive Timeline
Right in the first room, people will get face-to-face to a huge interactive timeline.
Moving the display across the printed timeline, visitors will discover the major events in the history of the region, since the prehistoric ages to the present time.
When the multitouch display stops, a digital version of the printed image that is behind it appears on the screen. Then, by touching in a specific year or event, people will be able to learn more about what happened then, through texts, images and videos.
Interactive
In the second room, visitors will find an interactive window, installed in a wall made of glass.
This solution’s main aim is to summarize Carrazeda de Ansiães main attractions, through an interactive map with the localization of the points of interest that are worth visiting, an agenda of events, news, contacts, a form for questions or suggestions of improvement, and a broad range of images of the region’s biggest wonders.
Just a few meters from the interactive window, there is a multitouch table with an awesomely futuristic design.
Wine is “king” in this solution, as everything you need to know about this region’s landmark is presented in an appealing way, with eye-catching images and schemes.
Multitouch Table
Upstairs, a multitouch screen informs about the traditional professions of the region.
Several texts and images are presented, allowing the discovery, using the fingertips, of every particularity of the old fisherman, bakers, shepherds, shoemakers, among others.
As a complement of the interactive screen devoted to the traditional professions, a big LCD shows a film that reproduces some of the techniques of the great artisans of the past, making sure that their mastery will not be forgotten!

Children and Technology
The last division of this exhibition is an absolute delight for children.
First, they will be able to gather and orient products like grapes or chestnuts to their respective baskets, using their own movements to give life to this magical experience!
Then, children will have the possibility to sit down and have fun, while learning important values about living in society, in harmony with Nature and other people.
Among the didactic games, there is a drawing and painting app (with free drawing, painting of some defined objects or the option to draw on top of a photo taken in the moment), puzzles, a recycling game, a challenge to stop a car when the traffic light is red and many other sources of fun.
