The Municipality of Valongo has entrusted EDIGMA with the creation of the Evocative Cyclist Center, a space with history that pays tribute to cycling in the municipality and in the village of Sobrado in particular. Four champions who have won the Volta a Portugal were born there: Fernando Moreira de Sá in 1948, Joaquim Leão in 1964, Nuno Ribeiro in 2003, and most recently Rui Vinhas in 2016.
From the creation of the visual identity that explores the concept of cycling and the dynamics of this sport to the immersive sensory experience, there are three key moments that make up the Evocative Cyclist Center. In a first moment, the mural of champions contextualizes the visitor to the theme of the center with graphic elements and pieces alluding to this sport that aim to spark interest. In another moment, we find an interactive device that allows us to search deeper into this theme, even navigating through the palmares associated with Sobrado.
At the high point of this center, the visitor is challenged to put on the skin of a champion and enter an alternative reality, where himself becomes a top-level cyclist with the possibility of pedaling through a peloton, passing the finish line, and descending at high speed. This immersive experience is possible thanks to the installed 3D simulator with virtual reality glasses. This configuration allows you to experience a transformative and impactful immersive experience that appeals to different physical and emotional sensations through movement, image, and sound.
This space emerges to value and preserve in memory, recalling the protagonists of the land in the Volta a Portugal. A cultural space that introduces the material and immaterial heritage associated with the practice of cycling and its history as well as its contribution to health and well-being.

O Município de Valongo confiou na EDIGMA a criação do Núcleo Evocativo do Ciclista, espaço com história, que visa prestar homenagem ao ciclismo neste concelho e à vila de Sobrado em particular. Ali nasceram quatro campeões que já venceram a Volta a Portugal em Bicicleta, Fernando Moreira de Sá em 1948, Joaquim Leão em 1964, Nuno Ribeiro em 2003 e mais recentemente Rui Vinhas em 2016.
Da criação da identidade visual que explora o conceito do ciclismo e a dinâmica deste desporto até à experiência sensorial imersiva, são 3 os momentos chave que compõem o Núcleo Evocativo do ciclista. Num primeiro momento o mural dos campeões contextualizam o visitante sobre o tema do núcleo com elementos gráficos e peças alusivas a este desporto que ambicionam despoletar o interesse. Noutro dos momentos encontramos um equipamento interativo que nos possibilita aprofundar a curiosidade sobre esta temática, navegando inclusive no palmarés associado a sobrado.
Na momento alto deste núcleo o visitante é desafiado a vestir a pele de um campeão e a entrar numa realidade alternativa, onde ele próprio se converte num ciclista de alta competição com possibilidade de pedalar pelo meio de um pelotão, passar uma meta volante e descer a alta velocidade. Esta experiência imersiva é possível graças ao simulador 3D de 3 eixos instalado com óculos de realidade virtual. Esta configuração permite vivenciar uma experiência imersiva transformadora e impactante, que apela à diferentes sensações físicas e emocionais através do movimento, imagem e som.
Este espaço surge para valorizar e preservar na memória, recordando os protagonistas da terra na volta a Portugal. Um espaço de cultura, que dá a conhecer o património material e imaterial associado à prática do ciclismo e a sua história bem como o contributo para a saúde e bem-estar.
